Perth Amboy Catch Basin Mural Installed in Washington Park

Perth Amboy’s first catch basin mural was installed on October 28th 2019 in Washington Park by Perth Amboy artist Christopher Ramírez. The Catch Basin Murals Project is a joint project between The Perth Amboy Arts Council, Perth Amboy Artworks, Perth Amboy Clean Communities and The City of Perth Amboy’s Storm Water Infrastructure Management. The catch basin was adopted by the Girl Scouts troops # 80714/80218, who selected the design for the mural and who pledged to keep the catch basin clean from debris and litter, to help to reduce flooding and reducing pollution of our water.

Residents in Perth Amboy can adopt a catch basin to keep it clean, and have a catch basin mural painted as a fun reminder of the importance of the work. The City of Perth Amboy created the Adopt a Catch Basin program in 2019, with the SWIM Team, the Storm Water Infrastructure Management, members who help to address the management of our City’s storm water. Geri Barcheski, The Perth Amboy DPW Recycling & Clean Communities Coordinator, brought the adopted a catch basin program to Perth Amboy. To adopt a catch basin, you can call Geri Barcheski at 732-826-2010.
